About Us

Don Salmon, Ph.D

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with two certifications in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), which is widely recognized as the first-line treatment for insomnia. I also have 25 years of experience teaching Effortless Mindfulness and Yoga Nidra (also known as “Non-Sleep Deep Rest) both of which are also highly effective for treating insomnia. I’ve helped people with sleep problems for more than 25 years, in hospital and clinic settings and I've taught mindfulness and related practices to a wide range of adults including law enforcement officers, fire fighters, intellectually disabled adults, as well as children and adolescents dealing with anxiety, depression, autism, asthma, ADHD, PTSD, learning disabilities, relationship difficulties, and more.

As a graduate student in psychology, I conducted research that involved successfully teaching people how to have lucid dreams. My doctoral dissertation was on using mindfulness practices for the treatment of chronic and intense physical pain.

Throughout my practice as a clinical psychologist, I’ve used the skills of my previous career as a composer and pianist in New York City.

I look forward to getting to know you and to being there to support you as you go through our course.

 Jan Maslow

I worked with Don in creating this course and was one of its first beneficiaries. My own long struggle with sleep has happily been resolved after going through the course with our first group of students.

I've studied medicine, social work, and organizational psychology at the graduate level. During the 1990’s, I was the Training Coordinator for the Federal Bankruptcy Court in lower Manhattan where I worked to create a rich and joyful learning environment in which staff could grow not only in job-related skills, but in their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills as well. I incorporated mindfulness and dialogue practices to help create a more cohesive, collaborative, and effective workplace. I’ve had years of experience designing and facilitating training programs of various kinds.

I look forward to being there in the community, along with Don, to help support you in your learning process and respond to your suggestions for things you'd like to see added to the course.
